Wishbone
Tap-to-vote social app built on side-by-side comparisons.

What it is
A social app where the entire interaction was one question: this or that. Users made and voted on side-by-side comparisons, which turned out to be a format teenagers would use hundreds of times a day.
Problem
Most social apps ask you to make something before you can participate — write a post, choose a photo, put your taste in front of people who might not agree. For teenagers that is a lot of social risk for one small act of self-expression. Wishbone reduced participating to a single tap: two options side by side, pick one, see what everyone else picked. Having an opinion is much easier than making a post, and a two-choice format can be repeated all day without ever feeling like work.
My role
I started as a designer on the Wishbone app, then became VP of Product — managing product managers and designers across Wishbone and other Mammoth Media apps, and working very closely with the user acquisition team on creative.
Outcome
Reached 2 million teen users a month and ranked consistently in the US Top 100.
